2018 Bard Graduate Center
Objects of Desire Solo Exhibition
This site-specific installation was created within the Bard Graduate Center Library for my 2018 Artist Residency exhibition. The centerpiece was a large-scale drawing — my contemporary interpretation of 18th century Korean painted screens with beauty products exemplifying the unrelenting messages that prey on women’s personal insecurities. Product names like Drops of Youth and Hope in a Jar simultaneously invent flaws in need of correction, while conjuring religious faith as the only panacea for women’s inherent imperfections.
